On Friday, September 1, WHMS presents a talk by educational consultant and diversity expert, Dr. Derrick Gay. The talk begins at 6 p.m. and is entitled, “Will Your Child be Ready for Success in a Globalized and Multicultural Society?”
Many parents inadvertently prepare their child to live in the parents’ childhood world, rather than the 21st-century global society that the child will actually inherit. What skills do today's children need to excel in the current global reality? The ability to communicate effectively across difference is a non-negotiable for 21st-century global citizens who will matriculate into an international collegiate experience and a multicultural professional and social environment. How should parents cultivate cultural competency to enhance their child's success in the 21st century?
Dr. Derrick Gay is an internationally recognized consultant to educational, artistic and philanthropic organizations around the world on issues of diversity, inclusion and global citizenship. Dr. Gay collaborates with education thought leaders to foster empathy, enrich inclusion and cultivate cultural competency.
