WHMS to host Montessori Teacher Training

We are proud to announce that Woodland Hill will host the first Montessori teacher training center in the greater Capital Region beginning this summer. Northeast Montessori Institute (NMI) — an established Montessori Training program since 1984 — is creating a satellite location here and will use our facility to teach and train future Montessori teachers.

The initial program will be an Early Childhood (ages 2.5 to 6) Course of Study. NMI’s executive director Martha Monahan has asked former faculty member Nancy Hillengas to be the On-Site Coordinator, with several current and former WHMS faculty as instructors.

With 12 to 15 adult learners expected, the program will run for three weeks in the summer – July 9 to July 27, followed by weekend seminars throughout the academic year (October 6—8, 2018; November 16—18, 2018; January 19 — 21, 2019; March 9 & 10, 2019; April 12 — 14, 2019; and May 18 & 19, 2019). Tuition is $5,600, plus $900 in curriculum and membership fees, for a total of $6,500.

We are excited to bring this new dimension of Montessori education to the Capital Region.

Northeast Montessori Institute is an applicant in good standing with the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education
Northeast Montessori Institute has applied for affiliation of its Early Childhood Course by the American Montessori Society and has been granted AMS Applicant Affiliate Status

Great to see two WHMS alums yesterday. They both graduated in 2013 from Woodland Hill.

Another snow day! We're closed today, Wednesday, March 7.
